Sertum Energy, based in the United Arab Emirates, was founded in 2011 with the goal of operating within the energy sector, both as a project developer in renewable energy and as an Engineering consultant in the oil and gas industry.
Beyond its consulting activities, Sertum successfully developed its first 27 MW photovoltaic project through its subsidiary Sertum Energy Namibia.
In 2018, following the addition of a new partner, the company was rebranded as Sertum Consulting, marking a new phase of growth and diversification.
The company refocused on the Oil and Gas industry, where it has since contributed to the success of numerous projects for both international and regional clients.
Drawing on extensive experience gained through careers with multinational companies, Sertum’s management team has executed dozens of projects across various industries.
Today, Sertum Consulting offers a distinctive combination of business development expertise and project execution capability, delivering value across multiple sectors.
The company has also developed proprietary know-how in gas treatment technologies and maintains access to manufacturing facilities, engineering and technology providers, as well as in-house engineering capabilities, enabling end-to-end project delivery from concept to implementation.
Enrico Barbaglia brings over 35 years of international professional experience, including more than 22 years in the Oil & Gas industry with Schlumberger, complemented by his entrepreneurial experience with Sertum Energy and Sertum Consulting, as well as segment VP in the nuclear and mining sector with Areva and in manufacturing with Shimano.
He graduated from Politecnico of Milan with a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. Enrico began his career in as a Quality Control Engineer with Shimano Italy, before joining Schlumberger, where he spent 17 years covering a wide range of positions, including Geomarket General Manager and Segment Technical Manager (worldwide), developing deep technical and managerial expertise of Oil & Gas services.
In 2009, he transitioned to the nuclear industry, joining Areva as Vice President Southern Africa for the Uranium Mining Operations.
Following the global nuclear industry downturn in 2011, he founded Sertum Energy, focusing on renewable energy project developments in Southern Africa.
Enrico returned to Schlumberger in 2012 as VP Early Production Facilities, a position he held for five years, significantly growing the business and leading international projects.
In 2018, he co-founded Sertum Consulting, where he currently serves as Director of Power Generation and Renewables, driving innovation and sustainable energy solutions across the company’s global operations.
Ahsan Ali brings over 25 years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry, having held senior roles with Schlumberger (11 years) and Weatherford (7 years).
He has built a broad international track record across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the United States, particularly in the production facilities sector.
Ahsan holds a Master’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
He began his career in 1998 as a Systems Engineer at Weatherford, providing turnkey solutions for automated production field and pipeline operations.
In 2006, he joined Schlumberger as a Senior Project Engineer, subsequently taking on multiple leadership roles within the Early Production Facilities business, including Production Testing Project Manager in Libya, Global Business Development and Sales Manager – Early Production Facilities, and later Project Director for three major production facility projects in Kuwait, with a combined value of USD 800 million.
In 2018, Ahsan Ali co-founded Sertum Consulting, where he currently serves as Director of Oil and Gas Projects, leading the company’s initiatives in engineering, project management, and business development across the energy sector.
